Do you get excited by complex data problems and know how to make them feel simple? At geoFluxus, we help companies and governments gain real insight into their waste and material streams. Our platform collects waste data from multiple sources, verifies it, and turns it into dashboards, flow maps, charts, and actionable reports for sustainability, procurement, and operations teams to make better decisions and meet compliance requirements like CSRD.
Our mission is to make circularity measurable. The word ‘waste’ shouldn’t exist: all resources should be used as long as possible, in the highest value way, and as close to their source as possible. We work with leading enterprises and governments across the Netherlands and beyond to make that a reality, backed by data.
You’ll be designing interfaces that surface complex data: material flow analyses, benchmarking charts, verification dashboards, compliance reports. If you’re a designer who finds that kind of challenge energising rather than daunting, you’ll fit right in.
About the role
You’ll join our product and tech team, working alongside the Lead UX Designer, a front-end developer, and a back-end developer. It’s a small, close-knit team where your work has a direct and visible impact on the product.
- Design features and flows end-to-end, from early concepts through to dev-ready designs, while collaborating closely with the Lead UX Designer.
- Make data understandable. Design intuitive dashboards, charts, and data visualisations that make complex waste and material flow information clear and actionable.
- Run user research, usability tests, interviews, and platform analytics and gather findings to inform design direction.
- Work closely with front-end and back-end developers to refine designs for implementation and catch issues before they reach production.
- Apply and help maintain the design system, flagging inconsistencies and contributing improvements as the product evolves.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with solid professional experience who can hit the ground running and work with real independence.
- At least 2 years of UX design experience in a professional setting.
- Fluent in Dutch. You’ll be working with Dutch clients, stakeholders, and colleagues day to day. Proficient in English, to be able to communicate with our international team.
- Able to come into the office in Rotterdam from Wednesday to Friday.
- A genuine interest in technically complex products. Data-heavy interfaces, analytics dashboards, and layered information architectures are the kind of design challenges you enjoy.
- Strong Figma skills. Auto-layout, components, and interactive prototypes are second nature to you.
- Experience conducting user research and usability testing, and comfort translating findings into design decisions.
- A strong eye for visual design and data visualisation; experience with the latter is a significant plus.
- Self-directed and communicative: you’re comfortable taking initiative, raising questions proactively, and collaborating across disciplines.
- A relevant degree in Industrial Design Engineering, Communication & Multimedia Design, or similar.
- A 36-hour workweek, with every other Friday off - without any impact on your salary.
- A hybrid working setup: Wednesday to Friday at our Rotterdam office, the rest of the week you can work where you prefer (home or office).
- An NS Business Card for commuting.
- At least 5 weeks of paid vacation, with flexibility to take more if needed.
- A quarterly offsite, in the Netherlands or abroad, to plan, brainstorm, and strengthen the team.
